Quick Tip: Taxi Drivers

  • If we encounter a taxi driver we like, we always ask for his business card (or simply his mobile number) so we can call him again whenever we need a ride.

Taxi drivers in Abu Dhabi don’t usually have a GPS, so unless we can mention a landmark, a big mall, a department store or a hotel close to the place where we are actually trying to get, it might be hard for them to know where to go.

If we happen to find a taxi driver who is knowledgeable and does not drive like he has been possessed by the spirit of an angry Ayrton Senna, chances are that next time we will need a ride, he will be available, so we usually get his digits and keep them handy.

Taxi drivers work all hours and often 6 days a week (many have Friday as their day off) but we always make sure to call them at least 30 min before we actually need them to pick us up as they could be on the other side of the city.
