Jones The Grocer – food emporium.
There are a few outlets around Abu Dhabi, such as:
- Al Mamoura – Mamoura Building B – Ground Floor
- Khalidiyah – Pearl Plaza Tower, next to ORYX hotel
- Al Raha Gardens – Garden Plaza, Khalifa City
(On the website there is a complete list of addresses and telephone numbers).
We had never tried this Australian-born food emporium before, but we took the chance to do so because we heard that they were open during the daytime on Ramadan (with screens covering the windows to respect those fasting during the Holy Month).
We had heard from friends that food here was delicious, so we were expecting a lot from this deli restaurant. We were not disappointed! They serve lovely food, yes (both eat-in and to-go), but we were surprised to discover that they also sell cookery books, designer kitchenware and a lot of gourmet ingredients to bring home to our kitchen. From cheese to chocolate, from pasta to aromatic oil and sauces, we were very curious to explore every shelf and counter around us as well as trying their menu.
We ordered a selection of bread and dips to share, and we both liked it very much.
As the day was very hot, I chose to get a simple green salad with balsamic dressing. Often the simplest dishes are the hardest to prepare, but I must say that my salad was just gorgeous: tasty, light and wonderfully perfumed.
W ordered a wagyu burger, which is a high quality beef patty. He loved it too!
The fantastic food, reasonable prices and friendly staff definitely convinced us to go back for more.
