NATURE
The Emirates Park Zoo is a fun place where to spend a day, especially if you love giraffes, as you can get really close to them. Weekend opening times are from 9:30AM to 9PM. More info and pics on the official website or on our blog post.

CULTURE/BOOKS
6:30 PM – The New York University Abu Dhabi is hosting a stimulating panel discussion on the novel ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell. More info here.

7:30 PM – The Kings of Lyon (tribute act to the Kings of Leon) are playing at The Club – for members and guests of members only. More info here.

INTERNATIONS/NIGHTLIFE
8 PM – Global social network Internations is hosting a poolside party at Noche, inside the Hilton Capital Grand Hotel. More info here.

NIGHTLIFE
10.30 PM – British Dj Adrian Dixon is planning on making everyone dance at Rush lounge, inside the Yas Viceroy Hotel. More info here.

FRIDAY 11

MEETUP/PARTY
11 AM – The Abu Dhabi Ladies group is planning to take part in the Al Maya Island Friday Toga Beach Party: the party is open to everyone if you prefer to go on your own, but those wanting to go with this Meetup group must be ladies.

FRIDAY BRUNCH
12:30 PM – Our pick this week is the scrumptious Jazz brunch at the St. Regis Hotel in Saadiyat Island. Live music and delicious food are always a good combination.

FESTIVAL
1 PM – The hotel Le Meridien Abu Dhabi is hosting a Sri Lanka day on its grounds: the afternoon will celebrate Sri Lankan culture, heritage and cuisine, with the famous “Kandyan Dance”, folkdance performances, a live “Calypso band” and a Sri Lankan band. Celebrations are also planned to celebrate the “Aluth Avurudda” – the Sinhalese New Year.

PARTY
1 PM – The Centro Rotana Hotel on Yas Island is hosting the Solar Republic pool party.

INTERNATIONS/SPORT
5:30 PM
– The Abu Dhabi Skating group is going again to disco-dance on ice at the Zayed Sports City rink.

SPORT
6 PM – The mixed martial arts event UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) is stopping in Abu Dhabi, at the du Arena. The evening’s highlight is the fight between Antonio Nogueira and Roy Nelson. Tickets available here.

NIGHTLIFE
10 PM – Clubbing night with R&B, hiphop and commercial music at the Zenith club, inside the Sheraton Hotel, with Dj Double U and Dj Tamer.

SATURDAY 12

ART EXHIBITION
10 AM
1.30 PM /and/ 5PM 10.30PM – The work of acclaimed Iraqui-Belgian painter Hemadi is on display at the Etihad Modern Art Gallery. The exhibition is called The Lion and The Home and it is on until the 23rd of April. Directions here.

MEETUP/FILMMAKING
3 PM
– The Abu Dhabi Filmmaker’s Network is gathering for the first of two encounters on story archetypes and 3D animation.

MEETUP/NATURE
3:30 PM – The UAE Animal Lovers group is visiting the Al Bahya Sanctuary, an Emirati-owned private farm housing rescued cats, dogs and donkeys.

MUSIC
4 PM – 6PMAUHDIO organises an afternoon of live music at Fanr Restaurant on Saadiyat Island, with a line-up of UAE bands and solo performers. More info here, and our blog post about the restaurant is here.

INTERNATIONS/DANCE
7 PM – The Abu Dhabi Tango group is meeting again for an evening of latino dance at the International Music Center in Khalidiya. Beginners welcome.

COMEDY
8 PM
– Critically acclaimed Bangalore-born (but performed in English) comedy show The Improv arrives in Abu Dhabi. The show will be hosted by comedian Nitin Mirani and is held at the India Social and Cultural Centre of Abu Dhabi.

TRAVEL/TRADE SHOW
The Holiday Festival inside Marina Mall promises to offer exclusive deals to inspire holiday plans for both local and international destinations. Open from 10 AM to 11 PM, it is located near the Patchi chocolates shop, on the ground floor, and will be on from the 10th to the 14th of April.

ART EXHIBITION
The Lightbox Gallery, inside the Yas Viceroy Hotel on Yas Island, is now displaying the stunning artworks by Brazilian mixed-media artist Fiona Ai Bubble. The exhibition is free and on until the 9th of August.
