What to do this weekend in Abu Dhabi (17/18/19 April)

SHOP ORGANIC + RIDE ON ROBOT CARS
Every third Saturday of every month, the lovely organic supermarket inside Masdar City (Organic Food and Cafe’) offers 20% discount on all products. Please note that despite the name, this branch only has a shop and not a cafe’.
This can also be a good chance to have a look at Masdar City, one of the most sustainable communities on the planet: did I mention that to get from the car park to the actual (pedestrian) city, you need to ride on the futuristic PRT (personal rapid transit) system, which is a computer-guided, driverless vehicle – aka a very cool ‘robot car’?

7 PM – Feria de Abril – Spanish festival at the Ritz Carlton.

ART
8 PM – Opening night of the Break an Eggs-hibition at the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche.

NIGHTLIFE
10 PM – Ladies night at Zenith – inside the Sheraton, with tunes from Dj Slim and Dj Tamer.

NIGHTLIFE
11 PM – Resident Dj Danny Avila is playing at the O1NE club on Yas Island.

FRIDAY 18

INTERNATIONS/SPORT
10 AM – The Abu Dhabi Skating group is heading to Zayed Sports City ice rink to attend the first of eight coaching sessions for those who want to become masters at ice-pirouetting.

FRIDAY BRUNCH
12:30 PM – This week we chose the brunch at Assymetri, inside the Radisson Blu Hotel on Yas Island: if you buy the hard copy of Time Out Abu Dhabi this week (April 16-22), you will find a 2for1 voucher on page 79 that can be used for the brunch at this restaurant (valid until the 30th September). All you can eat and half price don’t come together often!

12:30 PM – The Abu Dhabi Lunch and Brunch group is going to Noche for a Latin-American brunch.

1 PM – The Weekend Ladies group is going to the brunch at the Dusit Thani.

6:30 PM – The Abu Dhabi Explorers and Travelers group goes biking and/or walking on the Corniche.

7 PM – The Abu Dhabi Art Initiative is hosting their inaugural meeting on Al Reem Island.

8 PM – The Abu Dhabi Nightlife group is heading to the Blue Bar at Hilton Capital.

MUSIC/NIGHTLIFE
11:30 PM – Mr Boombastic himself, Shaggy is performing at Etoiles inside the Emirates Palace.

SATURDAY 19

ART
10 AM – Paper marbling workshop organised by Art Hub.

ANIMALS/CHARITY
2 PM – 4 PM – Local cat charity Sandy Paws is hosting a cat and kitten adoption day to re-home a bunch of adorable strays in need of loving families. Come and say hi to the kitties: even if you don’t adopt, you can always get involved with fostering or a donation.

DUPLAYS/SPORT
3 PM – The second instalment of the Flag Madness – flag football tournament is kicking off today. Players and spectators welcome.

MUSIC
4 PM – Flute recital by young musician Iryna Nadyukova.

MEETUP/SPORT
6 PM – The Raw Yoga group is meeting in Khalidiya park for a session of acrobatic yoga!!

ART
7 PM – Opening night of the new exhibition of Zimbabwean sculptures called ‘Shona stones’ at Art Hub.

FILM
